BMAM: Suggestions for Zuzalu after the trip to Montenegro

Author: BMAN, Co-founder of ABCDE Capital

Zuzalu is a memorable and magical journey.

It is a flash city, but one that exists in people’s hearts as a virtual city rather than in reality. The word “Zuzalu” was coined by Vitalik Buterin and has no inherent meaning, but a group of great minds are building meaningful things there.

Although the Zuzalu in Montenegro has ended, the residents’ construction has not.

I met many dropouts with blue sky thinking and hackers who had left Russia due to war. The experience at Zuzalu was unprecedented, and I had never seen so many free and bright souls gathered in one place.

Zuzalu is a social experiment and a prototype of an innovative human community. Here, you can not only see what Ethereum will look like in the next ten years, but also what human technology and communities will look like in the next ten years.

I truly hope that Zuzalu can continue, so I have some ideas:

1. What is the relationship between Zuzalu and Ethereum?

“The metaphysical is called the Way; the material is called the vessel.” – The Book of Changes

This means that Zuzalu is a city where residents seek the “Way,” and Ethereum is the container of the “Way.” Zuzalu is a place that people build together in their hearts, while Ethereum is a place people build in reality.

2. What is the metaphor of Zuzalu?

If the metaphor of Ethereum is “the infinite garden,” what should the metaphor of Zuzalu be? I once thought that the metaphor of Zuzalu should be “the invisible city,” the name of a book by Italo Calvino, a book full of imagination and metaphor.

But now I think the metaphor of Zuzalu should be “the city on the other side.”

The other side means that Zuzalu is a city built outside of reality. Although it is rooted in reality, it is built in the hearts of its residents. It is a network city, not a real city. The other side also means that it transcends Ethereum and brings a broader vision to Ethereum, such as longevity, artificial intelligence, etc.

3. How to expand the vision of Zuzalu and involve more people?

Zuzalu only gathers 200 core residents each time, and more people will want to participate in the next one. Residents are prone to generate game-like hierarchy among themselves.

Therefore, we should encourage local residents around the world to initiate their own Zuzalu.

After holding 2-3 Zuzalus, residents around the world will jointly build a network city. A few years later, the Zuzalu city will become a decentralized “invisible city” and “city on the other side”.
