Ubisoft Releases Blockchain Game “Champions Tactics” – Is the Big Player Entering the Game?

Ubisoft, I want to give you four words that will make you money: cell division.

Although blockchain games have been one of the pillars of the blockchain market, on the one hand, compared with traditional games, blockchain games are still generally considered to be inferior in terms of quality, design, and gameplay; on the other hand, the various concepts of blockchain games are still too complex, chaotic, and expensive for ordinary players who may not be familiar with or interested in encrypted tokens and NFTs. Currently, the blockchain game is still a niche product in the encrypted community and has not yet reached the larger traditional game market.

However, according to a report released by KBV Research at the end of last year, the global blockchain game market is expected to reach US$104.5 billion in 2028, rising at a compound annual growth rate of 68.2% during the forecast period.

Even if it is unknown whether the current state and prospects of the encryption market can support this growth, many game companies are still gradually entering the encryption industry, such as Voodoo in France, SE in Japan, and a group of companies in South Korea, etc.

Among them, Voodoo announced on its official website at the end of 2021 that it will officially enter the blockchain mobile game field. At the beginning of this year, Voodoo released a new blockchain ecosystem Voodoo Infinity and the cryptocurrency Voodoo Coin, which will be launched in the third quarter of this year.

SE President Matsuda Yosuke continued to see the future value of blockchain technology after the cold winter of the encryption market at the end of last year and expressed his commitment to continue to increase investment in blockchain-related projects and release blockchain games in 2023 in a global open letter at the beginning of this year.

Champions Tactics

Of course, even if Champions Tactics may not reach the development level of Ubisoft’s AAA products, Ubisoft’s launch of Champions Tactics can still be regarded as an important milestone in the blockchain game industry, because it marks a mainstream traditional game company’s entry into the Web3 game field.

As one of the largest video game publishers in the world, Ubisoft has always had a loyal player base worldwide. Its participation in blockchain games can bring more attention and trust to this technology and market.

However, it remains to be seen whether Ubisoft’s move will bring a powerful change to the current state of the blockchain gaming market. To bring this level of impact, Ubisoft must overcome a series of challenges and prove that its “Champions Tactics” can use blockchain technology to provide a unique, attractive, and valuable experience that attracts players beyond the crypto community. (July 3rd), the top streamer star Cai Xukun’s drama, like leeks, continues to dominate Weibo.
