Today, the on-chain ecosystem is continually erupting, and users’ learning needs are rapidly showing professional and systematic characteristics. Simple article popular science is far from meeting users’ needs. At the same time, the number of industry participants is showing an explosive growth trend: including technology or project enthusiasts and practitioners, etc., the continuous growth of these participants has also brought more Web3 education-related demands.
Therefore, more and more Web3 education platforms have emerged in recent years, either providing systematic technical education courses, or establishing a Web3 learning system through gamification, or helping ordinary users to enter Web3 more conveniently, or delivering practitioners to Web3. Now, many top investment institutions have noticed the potential of the Web3 education track and begun to increase their investment in this field, including Animoca Brands and Hooked Protocol’s cooperation announced on May 18. Currently, Binance, DCG, A16z, Sequoia, and others have successively laid out the track.
In a previous article, veDAO Research Institute introduced Binance’s Web3 education protocol, Open Campus. So, what other projects in the Web3 education track are worth paying attention to? This article will classify and introduce the projects in this track into three categories.
Classification of Web3 Education Projects
At present, Web3 education platforms are mainly composed of centralized and decentralized platforms. The advantages of centralized platforms lie in operation, while the highlights of decentralized platforms are incentive systems. Web3 education platforms can be roughly divided into three categories: general education, L2E (Learning to Earn) platforms, and course education.
General Education
Any user entering Web3 needs to understand basic industry knowledge such as concepts and project introductions. These contents are usually provided to users in the form of articles. Most of these platforms are launched by industry giants with the purpose of attracting users, have certain transaction orientation, but long-term maintain a good level of richness and timeliness of popular science information, which still has a significant effect on users learning basic knowledge.

Overall, these education platforms are more like traditional content publishing platforms, but some platforms have begun to cooperate with project parties to provide users with partial rewards. For example, Binance Academy provides new users with the opportunity to learn about blockchain and earn cryptocurrency, in the form of watching video courses and then obtaining rewards through quizzes. If this form is combined with the economic model of Web3, it is currently the L2E education platform.
L2E Platform
Learning to Earn is a popular way to learn in the cryptocurrency field. L2E platforms act as a bridge between cryptocurrency projects and users. Cryptocurrency projects provide cryptocurrency and interactive requirements, and L2E platforms create tutorials based on their requirements. Users then learn based on the tutorials and earn cryptocurrency or NFTs.

Conclusion
Although Web3 education platforms have begun to receive attention from the cryptocurrency industry and investors, they still face issues such as balancing learning modes and incentive mechanisms, improving industry awareness among users, and achieving ecosystem positive feedback loops. However, with the expansion of the cryptocurrency market and the refinement of user needs, there are still plenty of opportunities for Web3 education platforms and they play an important role in promoting Web3 knowledge dissemination and attracting more users.
Overall, the L2E model may become the mainstream framework for Web3 education platforms, achieving a win-win-win situation for project parties, platform parties, and users, and making it easier to migrate from Web2 to Web3. Course-based education platforms have systematic courses and are highly attractive to users with clear learning needs, and their development model will also be healthier and more sustainable. Essentially, Web3 education is a bridge between Web2 and Web3, driving Web2 traffic into Web3. The Web3 education track is still in its early stages, and a leading protocol has yet to emerge. Whether this track has the opportunity to form a large-scale breaking effect remains to be seen.
