Optimism has been renamed to OP Mainnet. This is aimed at reflecting its goal of creating a “superchain” consisting of multiple L2 networks, with OP Mainnet serving as the base layer. In addition, the developer of OP Mainnet, OP Labs, operates a development software stack called OP Stack, which allows developers to create their own L2 blockchains. Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is using OP Stack to develop the L2 network Base.
