Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced that it will focus its “Stand with Crypto” campaign on nine states in the United States, including four swing states where voters are considered unlikely to choose a presidential candidate who opposes cryptocurrencies.

In a blog post on September 19th, the cryptocurrency exchange stated that these four swing states include New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, but these are just some of the states where the exchange will focus its “support crypto” campaign.

“A fall 2022 poll showed that in key states such as New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, over half (55%) of voters said they are unlikely to vote for candidates who oppose cryptocurrencies and Web3.” Coinbase quoted survey data collected a year ago by Morning Consult.

A poll conducted in October covered 800 potential voters in the four states. 13-19% of respondents in these four states claimed to own cryptocurrency at the time of the survey.

Coinbase also pointed out that, especially in Nevada, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, over 40% of cryptocurrency owners use blockchain to send money overseas to help family members pay for food, housing, and medical expenses, with fees much lower than those charged by banks for international wire transfers.

Coinbase is trying to mobilize cryptocurrency users

This focused research was conducted during Coinbase’s 14-month “support crypto” campaign launched in August, aimed at promoting cryptocurrency legislation in the country.

Coinbase stated that the campaign will focus on four swing states, but will also focus on Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, and Wisconsin, where cryptocurrency ownership is “exponentially high.”

“While more and more elected officials in Congress advocate for legislation to regulate cryptocurrencies and advance the financial system, others simply choose to protect the status quo.

Coinbase also plans to organize “Support Crypto Day” in Washington, D.C. on September 27th to advocate for better cryptocurrency innovation and policies.

The campaign also encourages cryptocurrency owners and supporters to take the time to call their congressional representatives and demand clear and reasonable legislation.

“Today, we have started this work by moving the fight from X (formerly known as Twitter) to our phones, harnessing the collective power of the community.”

It further states, “The campaign will encourage cryptocurrency owners and supporters to spend one minute each day calling their congressional representatives, urging them to pass clear and reasonable legislation.”
